Innovative character of the project

Setting up a national and structural project with the Algerian Ministry of Higher Education on the issue of refugees is in itself unique and innovative since it is the first of its kind in the country. On the other hand, Ci-RES is part of a European research context in order to discuss and reflect on the integration actions of refugees in Algeria, within the framework of regional and national priorities of capacity building projects which constitutes a pioneering action in the field of interdisciplinary research. Ci-RES carries its innovative character on tow major levels: 1. the regulatory level and 2. the operational level. On the regulatory level, Ci-RES makes it possible to reformulate the internal regulations of Algerian HEIs for the benefit of refugees in order to integrate provisions to improve the situation of refugees in higher education and their integration at the academic, cultural, societal and professional level. . Consequently, the indicators developed at the regulatory level will make it possible to take stock of the current situation and to propose concrete measures for their integration . These actions will be concretized by the drafting of internal regulations, a practical guide which contains concrete measures for the reception, support and monitoring of the development of refugees. On the operational level, the direct training of 20 refugees, and 20 academic and administrative staff as well as the active participation of MESRS will make it possible to meet the needs of refugees in Algeria and to find durable solutions for social, professional and cultural integration in the country. The creation of offices in charge of refugee issues will undoubtedly constitute a real added value, they will represent the pivotal element of a national process of integration of refugees in HE.

In addition, European partners will support the transmission of know-how, achievements and experiences in the integration of refugees through their projects and networks for the benefit of refugees.
